Countries Announce Inbound Measures for Visitors from PRC
China announced it would reopen its borders next month, which stimulated the enthusiasm of visitors from China to go abroad. However, countries such as Japan, India, and South Korea began to increase nucleic acid testing and inbounding requirements for travelers from China.
Japan
Japan will require negative Covid-19 test results for travelers coming from China.
The policy will take effect from Dec. 30, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida told reporters in Tokyo on Tuesday. Those who have been in China within a seven-day period will be required to undergo testing upon arrival, he said, adding that those who test positive will have to quarantine for a week.
Direct flights from China, Hong Kong, and Macau will be accepted only at Narita, Haneda, Kansai International, and Chubu airports, according to an emailed statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday said RT-PCR test for the detection of COVID-19 would be made mandatory for passengers from China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand for their travel to India. He also said that passengers arriving in India from these countries will undergo thermal screening at airports and those found COVID-19 positive or with fever will be quarantined.
The Union health ministry has already asked the civil aviation ministry to ensure random post-arrival coronavirus testing at airports for 2% of the passengers arriving in India.

Yonhap News Agency also reported that the Korean Disease Management Agency added China to the list of "key countries for quarantine inspection" on Dec 16th.
Arrivals with a body temperature above 37.5 degrees Celsius are generally classified as symptomatic, while the standard for priority quarantine subjects is 37.3 degrees Celsius. If the body temperature of an inbound person from a key country exceeds 37.3 degrees Celsius, he or she and his accompanying persons need to undergo a nucleic acid test together.
